Word of God in Your Heart

Verse: They said to each other, 'Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?' (Luke 24.32)

Jesus told His disciples the parable of the sower. He showed them how the Word of God is given to all, but all don't allow the Word to grow in their lives and bear fruits. Some do not understand and so they allow the devil to take it away immediately. Others are afraid of persecution from people around and so they are ready to compromise with the Word. Still others are more interested in worldly things. They know that if they follow the Word of God, then they will have to give up some worldly things.

But some people really allow the Word of God to take control of their lives. They bear fruits. These people are full of real joy and happiness. They take help from their pastors or ask the Holy Spirit's guidance whenever they don't understand a passage from the Bible. They stand firm in times of persecution. They are not shaken easily.

E.g. Even when the Apostles were beaten and told not to preach in Jesus' Name, still they preached, without fear. These people are ready to leave their addictions and worldly cravings and follow the Word of God whole-heartedly. Let your hearts burn every time you receive the Word and let the Word sink deep in your hearts. “But as for that in the good soil, these are the ones who, when they hear the Word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance.” (Luke 8.15)

Prayer: Holy Spirit let my heart be filled with You, for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Help me to control my words and speak what the Word of God declares. Amen.
